After a monumental amount of rain this Spring there was finally a gap in the weather to get the spring barley drilled. A much later start than previous years. Normally we would have been underway as soon as ground conditions dried up in February but it wasn't to be this year!
We use our Lemken Solitair 4m power harrow drill as it is a very versatile machine that will tackle the most challenging conditions. Seed rates have been between 180-200 kg/ha depending on the conditions of the ground being planted.
So far drilling has gone relatively successfully.. only a few wet holes being avoided. While the weather stays dry we'll be moving on to get the sugar beet ground ready next.
